01About these terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of compoundengineer.com (the “Site”), including its lessons, tools, newsletter, mock interviews and consultations (together, the “Services”). The Services are provided by Compound Engineer, operated by Aayush Ostwal (“we”, “us”, “our”).

By creating an account, purchasing a plan, booking a session or otherwise using the Services, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy and Cancellation and Refund Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

02Eligibility and your account

You must be at least 16 years old, and able to enter a binding contract where you live, to create an account. If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian has reviewed these Terms.

You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, for keeping your sign-in credentials confidential, and for all activity under your account. Tell us promptly at the address below if you suspect unauthorised use. One account belongs to one person; do not share it.

03The Services

We publish visual, step-by-step lessons on data structures and algorithms, system design, AI and machine learning systems, DevOps and career preparation. Part of the library is free; the rest requires a paid plan (“Pro”).

We update, reorganise or retire lessons over time and may change features at any time. We do not promise that any specific lesson, feature or track will remain available, or that the Services will be uninterrupted or error-free.

The Services are educational. We do not guarantee any outcome, including passing an interview, receiving a job offer or earning a particular salary.

04Plans, pricing and payment

Pro is offered on the following terms. Prices are stated in US dollars and are inclusive of applicable GST and VAT.

  • Monthly: $15.90 / month, renewing every month until cancelled.
  • Yearly: $159 / year, renewing every year until cancelled.
  • Lifetime: $199, paid once, for access to Pro for as long as we operate the Services.

Payments are processed by a third-party payment provider. We do not see or store your full card details. By purchasing, you authorise us and our provider to charge your chosen payment method, including recurring charges for Monthly and Yearly plans until you cancel.

We may change prices or plan features. A change never affects the period you have already paid for, and we will give you reasonable notice before a new price applies to your next renewal. “Lifetime” refers to the lifetime of the Services, not of any person, and does not oblige us to operate the Services indefinitely.

05Cancellation and refunds

You can cancel a Monthly or Yearly plan at any time; you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for. Refunds are governed by our Cancellation and Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

06Mock interviews and consultations

Sessions are booked through a third-party scheduling tool at the times shown in Indian Standard Time (IST, UTC+05:30). Please arrive on time; a session cannot be extended beyond its booked length if you join late.

Feedback and advice given in a session reflect our professional opinion for educational purposes. They are not legal, financial or employment advice, and do not guarantee any result. Recording of a session requires the consent of both parties.

Rescheduling and cancellation terms for a session are shown at the time of booking.

07Our content and your licence

All lessons, diagrams, animations, code walkthroughs, text, graphics, the Compound Engineer name, logo and design are owned by us or our licensors and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.

While you comply with these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Services for your own learning. Code snippets in lessons may be used in your own projects and interview practice.

08Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • copy, scrape, republish, resell or redistribute our lessons or other content, in whole or in substantial part, without written permission;
  • share, sell or publish your account access, or circumvent any paywall or access control;
  • use automated tools, bots or crawlers to extract content or place load on the Services;
  • attempt to probe, disrupt or gain unauthorised access to the Site, its infrastructure or other users’ accounts;
  • upload or transmit malware, or anything unlawful, infringing, defamatory or abusive;
  • use the Services to train a machine-learning model or to build a competing product.

09Feedback and submissions

If you send us feedback, corrections or suggestions, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual licence to use them to improve the Services, without obligation to you. We will not publish your name or personal details without your permission.

10Third-party services

The Services link to and rely on third-party services, such as our payment provider, scheduling tool, newsletter platform and sign-in providers. Those services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their content or practices.

11Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your access, with or without notice, if you materially breach these Terms, misuse the Services, or if required by law. You may stop using the Services and delete your account at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination, including intellectual property, disclaimers, limits on liability and governing law, will survive.

12Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Services are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We take care to make our lessons accurate, but technical content can contain errors or become outdated. Please verify anything you rely on in production.

13Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill or opportunity, arising from your use of the Services. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Services is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including your statutory consumer rights.

14Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Before starting any formal proceeding, please write to us at the address below so we can try to resolve the matter in good faith. Subject to any mandatory consumer protections that apply to you, the courts of India have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute that remains unresolved.

15Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make a material change, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you by email or on the Site. Continued use of the Services after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
